  • Delbert "Wayne" Whitehead passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. He was 83 years old. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Huffman; two sons, Mike and Gary; daughters-in-law, Jody and Trish; five grandchildren, Chad, Brad, Michael, Joe, Machelle, and Chelsea; and 10 great-grandchildren.
    Wayne was born February 14, 1931 in Lenora, Okla. to Lester Melvin Whitehead and Agnes Hunter. He attended school in Lenora, Okla. On April 14, 1952 Wayne married Ella Loretta Anson in Clayton, New Mexico. They were married for 36 years before Ella passed away February 10, 1989. he worked on the family's farm until 1958 when he, Ella, Pam, and Mike moved to Central Point, Ore. where he spent the rest of his life. Wayne worked as a dryer tender for Fir Ply and SWF until SWF closed in 1989.
    Wayne loved his family. When Mike and Gary were in high school he enjoyed watching their football and baseball games as well as their wrestling matches. He took pleasure in watching his grandsons also participate in football, baseball, and wrestling and later, watching Michael Joe compete in Ultimate Fighting.
    He enjoyed the outdoors. During the summers he liked to camp and fish at the lakes in the area. In the fall he enjoyed going deer hunting in Eastern Oregon. Wayne loved going to the coast and made many trips to Oklahoma through the years to see family.
    He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
