  • Congressman Greg Walden is holding an art contest for high school students in Oregon's Second Congressional District, which includes Central, Southern and Eastern Oregon.
    The 2014 Congressional Art Competition gives participants a chance to have their two-dimensional works displayed in the U.S. Capitol building and receive free, round-trip airfare for two to Washington D.C.
    Runners-up will have their artwork displayed in one of Walden's offices in Bend, Medford, La Grande or Hood River.
    Participants should submit up to two photographs of their works no later than Monday, May 5. The photographs should be emailed to Elizabeth.litzow@mail.house.gov, along with the entrant's name, phone number, address and high school they attend.
    A panel will judge the submissions and select a winner and runner-up. Accepted media include paintings, drawings, collages and photographs.
    Each framed piece can be no larger than 28 inches high, 28 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Winning entries must arrive framed, and no piece should weigh more than 15 pounds.
    Entries must be original and cannot violate copyright laws.
