  • A sneak preview of an opera penned by two Southern Oregonians about post-traumatic stress disorder and its impact on veterans will be presented from 7 to 9 tonight at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent.
"The Canticle of the Black Madonna," written and composed by Phoenix residents Ethan Gans-Morse and Tiziana DellaRovere, tells the story of a soldier's journey home from war and of his wife's struggle to endure the changes in him brought on by PTSD, all in the midst of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
Gans-Morse and DellaRovere will be present at the event, along with a veteran and his wife, who will discuss combat trauma. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
The opera will premiere in Portland Sept. 5 and 6. See www.canticleoftheblackmadonna.com for more information.
