    Leona M. Houston went home peacefully and passed quietly into the Father's hands in Heaven April 15, 2014 after a nearly six year struggle with the effects of a stroke. She is now enjoying eternal peace.
    Leona was born in Sams Valley, Ore. February 16, 1919 to Max and Alina Schulz. Leona was the youngest of seven children, all preceding her in death. Leona married Lindsay G. Houston in 1937 and they were long time residents of Sams Valley where they raised two sons, Clifford and Lyle.
    After the death of Lindsay she lived with her eldest son, Clifford, in Spokane, Wash. She was a long time member of the Sams Valley Grange, active in the Sams Valley Church which met in the old Sams Valley School, her alma mater, as well as the Ladies Club and many other civic activities.
    She is survived by her eldest son, Clifford Houston, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsay Houston, and her youngest son, Lyle Houston.
    She will be truly missed by many family and friends. Good night, Mom.
    Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
