  • KLAMATH FALLS — North Medford produced several top marks to lead local teams in the 30-team Sterling/Lithia Invitational track and field meet Saturday at Oregon Tech.
    Aaron Browne-Moore and Halley Folsom each climbed to No. 2 on the Black Tornado's all-time lists for the boys and girls triple jumps, respectively.
    Browne-Moore won with a leap of 44 feet, 9 inches, a personal best by more than a foot, and Folsom won the girls event with a PR, going 35-31/2. Folsom also claimed the high jump at 5-4.
    Other personal bests that produced victories were by North Medford's Mario Filippi, Cascade Christian's Aaron Cesaro, Ashland's Victoria Lawton-Diez and Prospect's Kaylee Biando.
    In boys events, Filippi took the pole vault at 13-6 for a PR. He also won the high jump at 6-4. Cesaro captured the shot put with a best of 51-21/4, putting him tops in the state in Class 3A, and he also won the discus at 154-5.
    North Medford's Nick Janakes claimed the javelin with a throw of 184-4.
    Lawton-Diez went 9-9 for a PR and a win in the pole vault, and Prospect's Biando won the shot put at 39-41/2, improving on her state-best standing for Class 1A and moving to No. 7 in the state overall.

    ST. MARY'S SPLITS — At Klamath Falls, Sisters topped St. Mary's, 5-3, before the Crusaders earned a 4-4 tie with Henley at the three-school meet at Henley High.
    St. Mary's Ian Newton and Justin Hawkins beat Henley's Spencer Todd and Christian Risuger, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 doubles. No. 2 singles player Pratheev Weerakoon won in straight sets against Sisters' Trevor Standen, and the Crusaders' No. 2 doubles pairing of Will Patterson and Riley O'Sullivan also triumphed in their match against the Outlaws.
