  • The Rogue Valley Timbers soccer club has five teams playing for state championships this weekend.
    The U18 95G Red girls, U16 97B Red boys and U13 00G Red girls will compete in the Oregon State Cup semifinals Saturday in Portland. Championship matches are Sunday, with the winners advancing to the Far West Regionals June 16-22 in Albuquerque, N.M.
    The U15 98B Red boys and U12 01B Red boys will play in the Presidents Cup semifinals Saturday. Title matches are Sunday, with winners moving on to regional play June 10-15 in Morgan Hill, Calif.

    Former Crater High and Western Oregon standout Bryce Peila was named the Arena Football League's playmaker of the week for the Portland Thunder.
    The jack linebacker led the Thunder with five tackles and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown in Portland's 69-62 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in Week 7. Peila, who scored his second defensive touchdown of the year, leads all AFL rookies with six takeaways and has collected a turnover in every game this season.
    A 30-year reunion will be held Saturday to celebrate the Medford High baseball and softball state championship teams from 1984.
    Players will be introduced at the North Medford-Roseburg baseball doubleheader at 11 a.m. at North Medford High and North Medford-South Medford softball twinbill at noon at South Medford High.
    A no-host social, open to the public, will take place beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Baci's Pizza and Pasta, 2105 Roberts Road.
