  • Shoestring Trio blends Gypsy jazz, tango, samba and chanson to bring a hip, international quality to its music. The trio's self-titled, debut CD features new originals and arrangements of classics.
The trio is touring the West Coast to promote the new CD, with a show at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Club 66, 1951 Ashland St., Ashland. The cover costs $5.
The trio — Michael Papillo on double bass, Antoine Salem on acoustic guitar and Robby Marshall on clarinet, tenor sax, flute and cajon — met while touring as supporting musicans for Los Angeles chanteuse Jessica Fichot. Their chemistry led to Shoestring Trio.
