  • Gordon Lee Monroe passed away peacefully at home April 27, 2014. He was 51 years old. Gordon was born in Medford, Ore. October 28, 1962 to Delbert Monroe and Donna Guches Monroe. He graduated from Medford Senior High School and was active in both football and baseball. He went on to play baseball on a college scholarship.
    Gordon was an avid coach for Little League, Junior Comet Basketball, and Pop Warner Football. He made many friends and truly enjoyed all the young athletes he helped.
    In 1993 Gordon married Jill Layton and felt very blessed to have two children, Jordan Elizabeth and Andrew Gordon. He was employed for 27 years as a pressman for CDS Publications in Medford.
    Survivors include his wife, Jill; daughter, Jordan; and son, Andrew. Also surviving are his mother, Donna Gonzales; brothers, Ronald Monroe and David (Lori) Monroe; sister, Deanne Kuykendall; two nephews, Daniel and Ryan Kuykendall; and one niece, Melissa Monroe. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert; grandmother, Del Monroe; and grandfather, Levi Monroe.
    A special thanks goes to Gordon and Erma Layton for many years of love, encouragement, and support to Gordon. We would also like to thank the hospice nurse, Lori Penwell, and roommate, Gilbert Vershores, for their friendship and care for Gordon.
