  • Fred Wilson, born December 30, 1924 in Kooskia, Idaho passed away peacefully at home with his family April 24, 2014.
    After serving 2 1/2 years aboard the USS Jenkins, 7th Fleet, he met the love of his life, Katie Beverly Hall. They were married September 1, 1946 in Ashland, Ore. and made their home in Medford where they raised three daughters.
    Fred worked in the metal trades.Later in life Fred and Bev worked in property management in Southern California, moving to Santa Rosa in the 1990s. They retired to Medford in 2008.
    He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly; daughters, Sandra Looney, Jean Erickson, and Christine Gault; brother, Herb Wilson; three grandchildren, Katie Erickson, Simi Rapacon, and Alexandra Wilson-Ali; and eight really great-grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Etta Wilson; brother, James Wilson; sister, Rosalie Pruett; and grandson, Jason Looney.
    Fred had a natural, heart-felt way with others. He instantly made friends, many lifelong. He was kind, open-minded, and always engaging thoughtfully with everyone.
    We will miss you forever, Freddie. Your positive approach to life was an inspiration to those who knew and loved you.
    A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date.
