  • The Medford City Council voted unanimously Thursday to accept a donation from the Rogue Valley Manor of about 11/2 acres of undeveloped property where the first leg of Larson Creek Trail will split from Bear Creek Greenway.
The city's new strip of property is etched out of a pair of Manor-owned tax lots bordering Larson Creek near the corner of Ellendale Drive and Hospitality Way.
The first leg of the pedestrian trail got the go-ahead from the City Council in November and will extend through the donated property, linking the Greenway to Ellendale Drive
When completed, Larson Creek Trail is proposed to link the Greenway to North Phoenix Road by winding along Larson Creek around Quail Point Golf Course and near a row of tightly arranged townhouses adjacent to the golf course.
Some residents who live in the area of the proposed pedestrian trail have spoken out against portions of the project's second leg, extending between Ellendale Drive and North Phoenix Road.
Though the entire project hasn't been approved, the city is seeking additional funding to extend Larson Creek Trail past Ellendale Drive.
