A crash and construction have combined to clog traffic on Interstate 5 near Phoenix.
Updated 4:40 p.m. A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 between Phoenix and Medford has slowed freeway traffic in both directions, Oregon Department of Transportation reported.
A vehicle traveling south left the freeway, crossed the median and ended up on the guardrails along the northbound lanes, officials said. Northbound lanes were closed while emergency crews removed the vehicle.
All lanes have now reopened, but drivers may see continued delays until the backed up traffic clears, officials said.
4:15 p.m. A crash and construction have combined to clog traffic on Interstate 5 near Phoenix.
A crash at I-5's mile 26 is blocking the northbound fast lane, the Oregon Department of Transportation said in a traffic update shortly before 4 p.m.
Crews working at the crash, heavy Friday afternoon traffic and lane restrictions narrowing the freeway to one lane for construction near Phoenix, are causing delays. Traffic is backing up and motorists should avoid the area if possible, officials said.
