Mother's Day weekend will once again play host to live entertainment, giveaways, kids activities and, of course, art for the 14th annual Art in Bloom.

The spring festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11.

The artisan market will include 90 artists and 30 horticulturists displaying and selling their work. The photographers, jewelers, painters, garden decorators and others will be located in booths and tents along Main and Bartlett streets and Central Avenue. Master Gardeners also will offer classes and demonstrations on the best ways to grow some of the plants and vegetable starts available at the market.

Event coordinator Amy Rose suggests that folks wait until this weekend's event to get mom original, handmade gifts.

A drawing will be held to give away six gift baskets with $500 worth of gift certificates from local businesses and creations by the Art in Bloom artisans.

Ashland's Silver Rock Design will display silver and stone jewelry. Attendees also will see watercolor and acrylic botanical paintings by Mary Rollins, handmade bags by Cathy Lougheed and much more. See Art in Bloom's Facebook page for full artist profiles.

Throughout the event, kid entrepreneurs will sell lemonade of their own recipe for $1 a taste at booths they have designed. Fair food, shaved ice and homemade ice cream also will be available.

This year's event will feature two stages of live entertainment throughout the weekend. The Main Street stage is located at the corner of Main and Front streets, and the Bartlett Stage is located in the parking lot of AmericanWest Bank, 300 E. Main St. Performances include dance by Dance Arts Academy and music by Diamonds in Denim, The Syndicate and Darian Banks, and more.

Grants Pass artist Jamie Brynn will create a sidewalk chalk mural throughout the weekend on Central Avenue by Central Art Supply, 101 N. Central Ave.

"She works throughout the weekend and finishes on Sunday," Rose says. "It's cool to check on it through the weekend and see how it progresses."

Families can purchase a square segment of sidewalk for $4 to leave their own mark on downtown Medford.

Central Avenue also will feature a live graffiti-art demonstration by Life Art/Life Track. Vogel Plaza will host a variety of other art demonstrations throughout the weekend, including weaving, calligraphy and glass-blowing.

There will be plenty for kids to do this weekend. Annie the Clown's Fun Town will have a jump house, puppet theater and face-painting at Seventh Street and Central Avenue. In the parking lot behind the Rogue Gallery, 40 S. Bartlett St., Nature Joe will have a large selection of animals and reptiles for kids to hold. ScienceWorks also will feature hands-on science exhibits at their booth outside Middleford Yarn Co., 30 N.
