Medford police will target and ticket drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians using the crosswalk during a sting from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, May 19, at the corner of East Fourth and Bartlett streets.

The "targeted pedestrian enforcement operation" will have a volunteer attempt to walk across the street at the crosswalk. Drivers who fail to stop or pass cars that are stopped will be cited and could receive fines up to $260.

The operation is to remind drivers that motorists must stop and remain stopped for crossing pedestrians at marked and unmarked crosswalks, police said.
