  • A ballot measure that would create a 10-year levy to fund station updates and new equipment and vehicles for Rogue River Fire District No. 1 was seeing support with less than half the votes counted.
In the first round of counted ballots, the measure was passing 1,062 to 604, or 64 percent to 36 percent. About 42 percent of the votes had been counted as of 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The proposed levy under Measure 15-123 would assess 25 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value within the district, intended to replace a 20-year capital improvement bond that expires in August.
If passed, it's estimated the levy would raise about $130,811 for 2014-15. By the 2023-24 fiscal year, it would raise about $170,679.
