Your group is just awesome at getting to the bottom of the many and varied readers' questions. Here's mine: When will the stock listing in the financial section for Erickson Inc. be changed from the old name of Erickson Air Crane even though I like the Erickson AC name better?
— Sharon D., Medford
For those of our readers who don't keep pace with local industry, executives in Portland decided recent acquisitions involving helicopters with light and medium capacity didn't fit into the heavy-lift air crane realm.
Instead of renaming the company Erickson Air Crane and More, the powers that be decided on Erickson Aviation. That takes us back to Sharon's question, asking why our stock listing still has Erickson AC. Technically, the company's stock ticker symbol is EAC, but we use company names.
However, ask and ye shall receive, Sharon: Our nimble page designers took your suggestion and ran with it. But we caught them and made them make the change. Because Erickson Aviation is too long to fit in our stocks table, it will simply be labeled Erickson.
Once upon a time, the Mail Tribune ran a lengthy daily list of selected stock listings provided from the wire service. In this era, when anyone can access stock quotes on the Internet (and that's what we do), it was long ago determined our readers would be better served with stories rather than lines of stock listings.
The only stock prices we print are for companies with a local presence.
