  • The Medford Rogues amateur baseball team had a tough time finding their offensive rhythm in Thursday's season opener.
    The Rogues were held to four hits in a 2-0 nonleague loss the the Marysville Gold Sox at Appeal-Democrat Park.
    Brandon Cody's solo home run to left field to lead off the eighth inning gave the Gold Sox's a 2-0 lead. Cody Ellenwood drove in Devin Alexander on a fielder's choice in the first inning.
    The Rogues' Brandon Erickson, who was charged with the loss, was solid in five innings of work, allowing just one unearned run on five hits and two walks to go with five strikeouts.
    Gabe Araj earned the victory for the Gold Sox (5-0). He went five innings, giving up one hit, two walks and struck out two.
    Shortstop Sam Fox went 2-for-4 for the Rogues (0-1).
