    SURFER MOVIE: "Surf's Up" is an animated film about a teenage rock hopper penguin named Cody Maverick (Shia LeBeouf), who leaves his hometown of Shiverpool, Antarctica, to compete in the "Big Z Memorial Surf Competition" on Pen Gu island, where he finds that the waves are different than back home and competition is steep.

    THE SOUTHERN OREGON WIND ENSEMBLE will present "Counterpoint," a program of music with Paul Hindemith's "Symphony for Band" and Jindrich Feld's "Divertimento for Wind Orchestra," at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall on the SOU campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. Also look for Ney Rosauro's Concerto for Marimba and Wind Ensemble performed by SOU percussion student Adam Lions.
