  • The Medford School Board will take community comments on its proposed 2014-15 budget during a public hearing tonight.
The hearing will be part of the Medford School Board meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the District Education Center Board Room, 815 S. Oakdale Ave. Those wishing to speak will be asked to sign in and limit their comments to three minutes. Written comments may also be submitted to Budget.Feedback@medford.k12.or.us.
The 2014-15 approved budget anticipates revenue of $113.2 million, a 6.3 percent increase from the current budget. The added funds will be used to hire more staff, provide salary increases, lengthen the school year and expand summer school.
The proposal also would reinstate parent-teacher conferences and provide more help for struggling students, according to a district press release.
The District Budget Committee approved the proposal earlier this month, after increasing funding by approximately $220,000 for athletic programs. The increase would allow students to play sports without paying participation fees, with the additional money coming from reserves.
The School Board is scheduled to take final action on the budget when it meets on June 16.
