  • Hits came in bunches for the Medford Rogues baseball team but were at a premium when they really counted in its nonleague series finale against the Seattle Tacoma Cheney Studs on Sunday.
The Rogues churned out 11 hits but stranded 12 runners, and with runners in scoring position, Medford was a costly 0-for-9 from the plate and left seven on base as the Studs took two of three games in the series with a 4-2 victory at Harry & David Field.
After the Studs jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a run in each of the first three innings, Donald Glover hit a solo home run to right field for the Rogues (1-4) to make it 3-1.
The Rogues cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh with Yuto Kata's RBI groundout that scored Zac Smit, who walked, advanced to second base on the pitcher's throwing error and moved to third on Clayton Meyer's single.
Glover, Meyer, Jake Herklotz and Levi Pereira all had two hits for the Rogues, who hit the road to take on the Redding Colt .45s today at 7 p.m.
The Studs were led by Tyler Baker's 3-for-4 performance.
