Medford police officer Arturo Vega was driving Wednesday to assist another officer who had spotted a stolen car at a west Medford Taco Bell when he collided with a car driven by 24-year-old Medford resident Shubin Bradley.

Nobody was injured, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said.

Police said Vega was driving west on West Main Street in the left lane with overhead lights on at around 7:30 p.m.

As Vega was passing Bradley's car, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, Bradley attempted a left turn from the right lane onto Washington Street.

Vega veered to the left in an attempt to avoid collision, but the front of his police car struck the side of Bradley's Pontiac.

The police car jumped a curb and came to a stop in the front yard of a house at 1417 W. Main St.

The car did not strike any landscaping, but it will be out of commission for a while, Budreau said, as the police department gets an assessment of the repair cost.

"Both cars are definitely heavily damaged," Budreau said.

Another police officer responded to the scene, and Bradley was cited for an improper turn.

Vega did not make it to the stolen car stop at Taco Bell.
