  • LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Medford Rogues grabbed a 2-0 lead but host Cowlitz rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to post a 3-2 West Coast League season-opening victory Friday.
    Black Bear designated hitter Daniel Orr's two-out single in the bottom of the ninth scored Chris Iriart with the winning run.
    Nathan Etheridge, in his first game with the Rogues, hit a two-run homer to break a scoreless tie in the seventh inning.
    Medford starter Nathan Kuchta allowed two hits, struck out five and surrendered one run in seven innings.
    Etheridge collected two hits and Yuto Kata went 3-for-4 for the Rogues.
    The same teams play at 7:05 p.m. tonight in the second of the three-game series.
