  • Rogues hold off Elks for fourth straight victory

  • The Medford Rogues took a commanding hold of their four-game series against the Bend Elks with 2-1 victory at Harry & David Field on Wednesday.
    Medford has won four straight, including the last three against Bend. The Rogues can earn the sweep tonight.
    In his Medford debut, David Peterson pitched five innings to earn the win. The Oregon-bound lefty allowed four hits, one run and three walks and struck out one.
    E.J. Lopez and Blaine Tanner each knocked in a run to give the Rogues a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. A single run by Bend in the top of the fifth ended the scoring for the game.
    Matt Loeffler picked up the save for Medford, his second of the season.

    WOLF PACK 7, MAVERICKS 6 — Joe Johnson and Knute Thompson hit RBI doubles in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Wolf Pack in the season opener at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
    Johnson broke a 5-all tie with his hit before Thompson recorded his double.
    Will Weaver went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Wolf Pack, which is a collection of St. Mary's, Cascade Christian, Rogue River, Eagle Point and Phoenix players.
    Marcus Brammel was 2-for-3 for the North Medford Mavericks.
