  • Local members of the Lyoness Greenfinity Foundation have organized a cleanup of the Bear Creek Greenway today.
    More than 120 Lyoness members have volunteered for the Greenway cleanup, which will begin with tasks being assigned at 2 p.m. at Railroad Park in north Medford.
    The effort will include cleaning and picking up trash from US Cellular Fields in south Medford to an area north of Railroad Park, a 6-mile stretch. Volunteers will also clear away overgrown blackberries along 10th and Cottage streets in Medford.
    To reach Railroad Park, take Table Rock Road off North Pacific Highway, then turn right on Berrydale Avenue at the entrance to the city fire station.

    The Talent Chamber of Commerce will host a "lumberjack breakfast" from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 15 (Father's Day), at the Talent Community Center, 206 E. Main St., in Talent.
    Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs and ham with coffee and milk. The cost is $5 per person; free for all dads with the purchase of a meal.
    The annual event allows Chamber members to meet and serve the community. The event is sponsored by two Chamber business members, Star Collision and Monte Davis of Legal Shield.

    A book reading and signing of "Higgledy Piggledy: A Tale of Four Little Pigs" will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Bloomsbury Books, 290 E. Main St., Ashland.
    The evening will include a children's party, refreshments and prizes.
    Winner of nine book awards, "Higgledy Piggledy" was written by B. Seymour Rabinovitch with Rebecca S. Treger and features illustrations by Mari Gayatri Stein. It's about four little piglet brothers, Curly, Twirly, Whirly and Higgledy Piggledy, who wishes he had a name to rhyme with the rest of his family. They learn a big life lesson about what's truly in a name when they must outwit and outrun their sly neighbor, Mr. Wolf.

    The Friends of the Library will host a used book sale from noon to 3:30 p.m. today and Saturday, June 13-14, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.
    Proceeds from the sale will fund programs and activities at the library.
