  • There is a strong probability that George Standfield, held in the county jail for an alleged statutory offense, filed by the father of a Miss Robinson, age 16, will not be prosecuted, upon the grounds of insufficient evidence and lack of intent. Efforts are being made by Attorney W.P. Mosley for Standfield, and friends of the young lady to adjudicate the matter out of court.
Friends of both maintain that a misunderstanding and undue haste resulted in the warrant being sworn out and Standfield's arrest, and that when the attendant publicity came, there were regrets and immediate steps to undo the arrest.
The preliminary hearing was to have been called before Justice Dox at Jacksonville this morning, but the trial was postponed pending developments.
According to Attorney Mosley, Standfield is under a severe mental strain as a result of his arrest, and is worrying for fear people will learn of his predicament. Attorney Mosley says he is a university man, a graduate of an agricultural college and a football player.
