  • Construction could begin this fall on a four-story, 120-room Hilton Garden Inn in south Medford.
Located just to the west of Ellendale Drive, the hotel has been planned for years and will be built to the west of Homewood Suites, a 109-room Hilton hotel.
Kent Angier, president and chief executive officer of Kauri LLC in Seattle, said market analysis indicates Medford can support another hotel.
"It's an economic hub for Southern Oregon," he said.
He said the booming health-care industry, the nearby U.S. Cellular Community Park, the Rogue Valley Manor and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival are some of the major draws to this area.
Kauri is a real estate investment company that has formed MHGI LLC for the purposes of building the Hilton hotel in Medford.
The design of the building, which is similar to the existing Homewood Suites, will be reviewed by the Medford Site Plan and Architectural Commission at noon on Friday in City Hall, 411 W. Eighth St.
