Morgan has 6 RBIs to lead CP

CENTRAL POINT — After it took the Central Point Comets American Legion A baseball team eight innings to down South Medford in the first game of an Area 4 doubleheader Monday, the Comets' Dylan Morgan did the Colts in early in the ngihtcap.

Morgan hit a three-run, bases-loaded double in the second inning and finished 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and six RBIs as the Comets completed a sweep of the Colts at Anhorn Field, 10-2. Central Point won Game 1, 9-8.

Morgan added a two-run single in the sixth inning as the Comets (3-3, 3-1 Area 4) posted four runs.

For the Colts, Alex Byland and Jake Melton both went 2-for-3.

In the opener, the Comets' Avery Martin drew a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth to push home Jake Cartwright for the winning run.

The Colts scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to go ahead 8-5, but Central Point answered by loading the bases in the bottom of the frame. After an error cut the Comets' deficit to 8-6, Gunnar Asher's two-run single knotted the score 8-all to send the game into extra innings.

Melton and Brandon Lupton both drove in runs for the Colts in the top of the seventh and South picked up the other on a Comets error.
