North Medford senior pitcher Alexis Barkwell, senior shortstop Joci Ellis and junior right fielder Grace Jovanovic were all named to the Class 6A state softball first team.
The Black Tornado finished the year 28-3 and lost, 5-3, to South Salem in the state championship.
North Medford senior catcher Katie Ramsay and Grants Pass junior pitcher Amy Robinson were second-team selections. Senior center fielder Keisha Williams made the honorable mention list for the Tornado.
Barkwell went 25-3 with a 0.91 ERA and 210 strikeouts in 170 innings pitched. She allowed 112 hits. Barkwell led the team in RBIs (28) and home runs (four) with a .439 average and 36 total hits.
Ellis — the Southern Oregon Hybrid player of the year — had a team-best .476 batting average, 49 hits and 39 runs scored.
Jovanovic recorded a team-best .723 slugging percentage, nine triples and 13 walks. She batted .457 with 25 RBIs and 32 runs. Glencoe's Courtney Clayton was the player of the year, South Salem's Katie Donovan pitcher of the year and South Salem's Scott McCormick coach of the year.
In Class 4A baseball, Phoenix senior catcher Justin McCreadie and senior outfielder Zach Kentner were honored to the third-team state list. Hidden Valley had three honorable mention selections: senior pitcher James Christian, junior infielder McKinnon Bennett and sophomore infielder Roman Fretz.
In 4A softball, Phoenix senior Amanda Skaff and North Valley senior Kasey Werner made honorable mention.
