Billie Joe Thompson, 78, of Central Point, Ore. passed away at his home June 14, 2014. Bill was born in Durant, Okla. to William I. and Beatrice Thompson. The family moved to Oregon in 1951. He attended Crater High School and served three years in the U.S. Army. He then graduated from Southern Oregon College. He worked as an auditor for workers' compensation in California and Oregon and retired from Saif Corporation in Medford.
After retirement he spent many winters in Baja, Mexico and later Yuma, Ariz. until illness prevented traveling. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the harmonica, bicycling, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Thompson, Central Point, Ore.; sister Glenda Greb, Eagle Point, Ore.; brothers Terry Thompson and Greg Thompson, Boise, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rita Greb.
A service will be held at Eagle National Cemetery later this summer.
