  • Owners of the land behind the old Hungry Woodsman restaurant in Medford found a dead body on the property Tuesday morning, police reported.
The body was discovered just after 10 a.m. during an assessment for fire protection. The man was found outside, and his death is not considered suspicious at this point, police said.
"The challenge right now is trying to get him identified," said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau, adding he anticipates authorities may have to match the man's fingerprints.
Police think the man was homeless and described him as "older."
Authorities said they believe the body had been there less than 24 hours.
The old building, near the intersection of highways 62 and 99, is a regular spot for transient campers, police said.
