Two Medford merchants were honored by the State Retail Merchants association at the annual meeting held in La Grande this week.
Ed. N. Warner, Worttman and Gore was named second vice president, and W.F. Isaacs, (Toggery Bill) was named as one of the directors. The next convention city will be Portland.
Mr. Gore returned Thursday from the convention, and was highly pleased with the reception tendered by La Grande to the visiting delegates. one of the features was a wild west show, and another an open air dance on the Main street of the city.
He characterized the convention as the most successful in the history of the association.
Collie Druhot, star of the Coast league six years ago, and afterwards on the pitching staff of the St. Louis Nationals, will be the chief attraction at the ball park Sunday afternoon when Talent plays Medford. Druhot is a new acquisition to the Talent team, and won a victory for Grants Pass by his heaving last Sunday. The fans of Talent are so interested in their team that they are determined to bring them up in the percentage column before the end of the season that closes July 12. Both Grants Pass and Gold Hill are strengthening their teams for the final spurt.
Until the passage of a building ordinance safeguarding the lives of children in Medford and properly regulating building construction and property hazards, I will be glad to furnish without charge and upon request in writing to any person or persons such information as may be desired by which conditions may be made more safe and fire danger lessened. Address all communications to F.H. Cowles, Orchard, Medford
