Walker "sassed" the court, which accounts for the heavy fine. A fine of $2.50 was first slapped on Walker, but after remarks and observations on his part brought the total up to a double eagle.
Chief Hittson made the arrest, and he alleged that Walker was going 30 miles an hour and blowing his siren.
Autoists and motorcyclists have been running hog wild in the resident districts the last week, East Main being a favorite scorching ground. At the next meeting of the council, an effort will be made on the part of taxpayers and pedestrians to have the council put on a couple of speed cops to curb the speeders.

Geoge Woodin was arrested this morning by the police, charged with the theft of $50 from the Stag Saloon on Sunday morning, and is having a preliminary hearing before Justice Taylor this afternoon. Woodin is employed as a porter at the saloon, and is alleged to have taken the $50 from its hiding place underneath the bar.
The cache was only known to Woodin, the bartender and the proprietors. Entrance was gained to the saloon by cutting the wire over the back transom. A watch identified as belonging to Woodin was found on the floor. Proprietor Murphy, as soon as the loss was discovered, took Woodin in hand, and turned him over to the police.
