  • CORVALLIS — Offensively stale for much of the game, the Medford Rogues made things dramatic in the top of the ninth inning by staging a late rally in West Coast League baseball action on Monday.
With the Corvallis Knights toting a 6-2 lead, the Rogues tallied three runs and put the tying run on before the Knights nixed the rally and sealed up a 6-5 victory.
After getting two runners aboard via a walk and a single, Nathan Etheridge got the Rogues (12-7) started by roping a pinch-hit run-scoring double to left field with no outs. Spencer Smith followed with an RBI groundout to shortstop that scored Andre Vigil.
After Yuto Kata grounded out to the pitcher for the Rogues' second out, Victor Garcia's single plated Forrest Garcia to trim Corvallis' lead to 6-5.
With Victor Garcia on first base, Medford's Tanner Lubach battled Knights pitcher Brandon Choate through an eight-pitch at-bat before Choate got Lubach to ground out to second base for the Rogues' final out.
Collecting two hits apiece for the Rogues were Kata — both were doubles — Lubach, Victor Garcia and Joe Chavez. Chavez also accounted for a pair of runs scored.

SISKIYOU 12-15, ASHLAND 4-0 — At Weed, Calif., Matt Flynn, Jose Perez and Tarquin Daley had two hits apiece in the opener for Ashland, but the Pilots couldn't overcome a 12-error day in the nonleague doubleheader.
Flynn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Daley 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run and Perez 2-for-3 with a run to lead the Pilots (5-11).
In Game 2, Ashland's Aaron Scott, who had a double in the first game, went 2-for-2.
The Jaxx needed only five hits to score 15 runs in the second game thanks to five Ashland errors and 10 walks in the first two innings.
