Wu dropped and 3-and-2 decision to James Beale of New Zealand. Beale built a 2-up lead through the first 13 holes before Wu trimmed the deficit to one shot on the 14th. Beale, however, regained a two-shot lead on No. 15, then sealed the victory on the 16th.
Earlier in the day, Wu defeated 2013 runner-up Hans Reimers of Lake Oswego in the quarterfinals, 2 and 1.
Wu used a hot putter to rally for the win after facing a two-shot deficit. Wu birdied holes, 13, 14, and 15 to take the match.
