  • A man who allegedly took a 69-year-old man's cellphone at knifepoint last week on the Bear Creek Greenway has been arrested.
Christopher Paul Devine, 37, is in the Jackson County Jail without bail on charges of first-degree robbery and a probation violation stemming from past drug charges.
Medford police arrested Devine at 9 p.m. Friday near Costco. Officers spotted him at 7:30 p.m. on Bullock Road, but Devine fled. After an hour and a half of searching with a K9 unit, police tracked him down and made the arrest, according to the agency's Facebook page. It's not known whether the cellphone was retrieved.
Devine reportedly robbed the 69-year-old Central Point man at 10:25 a.m. Monday, July 7.
Devine was on probation through Jackson County Community Justice and was known to frequent homeless shelters and the Greenway between Central Point and Medford. He was convicted of methamphetamine possession two times in 2013, Oregon Judicial Department records show.
