  • A man who allegedly took a 69-year-old Central Point man's cellphone at knifepoint last week on the Bear Creek Greenway has been arrested. Christopher Paul Devine, 37, is in the Jackson County Jail without bail on charges of first-degree robbery and a probation violation from past drug charges.
Medford police arrested Devine at 9 p.m. Friday near Costco. Officers spotted him at 7:30 p.m. on Bullock Road, but Devine fled. After an hour and a half of searching with a K-9 unit, police found him and made the arrest, the agency's Facebook page said. It's not known if the cellphone was retrieved.
The robbery occurred at 10:25 a.m. on Monday, July 7.
Devine was on probation through Jackson County Community Justice and was known to frequent homeless shelters and the Greenway between Central Point and Medford. He was convicted of methamphetamine possession two times in 2013, Oregon Judicial Department records show.
