  • Sheriff's deputies and search and rescue workers are looking for a missing Shady Cove man who wandered away from his family's campsite on July 11, but was spotted near Trail early this morning.
Dwain Hodge, 53, is described as 5 foot 9 inches tall about 180 pounds and experiences irregular mental impairments having recently suffered a stroke, according to a new release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
Hodge reportedly rang the doorbell of a home in the 27000 block of Highway 62 at about 3 a.m. today, and asked the resident for a ride to Grants Pass, the release said.
After answering the door, the resident asked Hodge to wait and went back inside, but Hodge left the home and hasn't been seen since.
Hodge is known to wander along Highway 62 and has been spotted by Shady Cove residents, the release said.
After searchers failed to locate Hodge following his initial disappearance, his family has asked for the search to be called off, according to the release, but searchers are still attempting to locate him.
Anyone with information about Hodge or his location is asked to call the Sheriff's office at 541-776-7206.
