  • BOISE, Idaho — Ashland native Jason Allred shot a 3-under 68 Thursday and is tied for 58th heading into the second round of the Albertson Boise Open at Hillcrest Country Club.
Zach Sucher will take a two-stroke lead into today's action after shooting an 11-under par 60.
Allred had an eventful front nine, starting off with a double bogey then getting back to par two holes later thanks to an eagle three on the par-5 third hole. He then birdied holes 16 and 17.
Portland Thunder jack linebacker Bryce Peila has been voted AFL MVP for Week 18 of the Arena Football League season.
Peila, a former Crater High standout, tallied 3.5 tackles and an interception and scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery in Portland's 44-31 victory over the LA KISS in Week 18. The Rookie of the Year candidate has recorded a takeaway in 12 of his 16 games played this season.
Fans had 24 hours to vote for the AFL MVP award on arenafootball.com. Peila took home 50 percent of the fan votes, beating out fellow candidates Cameron McGlenn of the New Orleans VooDoo and Tracy Belton of the Orlando Predators.
