  • A 31-year-old Lakeview man died Sunday morning when his motorcycle crashed while veering off the westbound lane of Highway 234 near Gold Hill, according to the Oregon State Police.
Nolan Rayce Ringulet was traveling near milepost 9 when he overtook a pickup truck at a high rate of speed, the OSP said.
The motorcyce reportedly veered off the road in a stretch of highway with a gravel shoulder.
The crash occurred at about 10:45 a.m near the Table Rocks.
According to OSP Lt. Gregg Hastings, Ringulet was traveling alongside two other people who were driving separate vehicles.
One of the other riders was on a motorcycle, and the other driver was in a pickup.
When Ringulet passed the pickup at high speeds and moved back into the westbound lane, he lost control, Hastings said.
The motorcycle veered into the gravel shoulder and left the highway into a field, where Ringulet was ejected, Hastings said.
The motorcycle was found several hundred feet from the rider, he said.
Ringulet was pronounced dead at the scene, and next of kin were notified, Hastings said. The rider wasn't wearing a helmet, he said.
