  • The Kelowna Falcons used a five-run seventh inning to rally for a 9-6 victory against the Medford Rogues in the rubber game of the three-game series in West Coast League baseball Saturday at Harry & David Field.
    The Falcons scored five runs on six hits and one Medford error in the seventh to erase a 5-3 deficit. The rally began with two outs and no one on base.
    Will Fox and Ryan Degner led the Falcons attack with two hits and two RBIs each.
    For Medford, Clayton Meyers had three hits and scored three runs, while designated hitter Nathan Etheridge drove in two runs.
    The West Coast League all-star game takes place Monday at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls.
    The Rogues will resume league play hosting the Walla Walla Sweets on Tueday at Harry & David Field.

    MEDFORD 6-4, WILLAMETTE VALLEY 1-2 — At Eugene, Colton Westfall and Caleb Newman each delivered a complete-game pitching performance as Medford increased its season-best winning streak to eight games and clinched its first Area 4 title since 2011 at South Eugene High School.
    Westfall struck out nine while surrendering one run on six hits in the opener. Christian Gillis was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs and Bryce Rogan 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run to lead the Mustangs' offense. Micah Brown and David Crofton added two hits apiece.
    In the second game, Newman gave up two runs, one earned, in seven innings with five strikeouts and a walk to help Medford (27-13, 12-4 Area 4) lock up the league title outright.
    Brown went off again in the nightcap, going 2-for-3 with a double — his second on the day — and an RBI, while Jared Evans was also 2-for-3.

    NORTH MEDFORD 15-10, GRANTS PASS 4-0 — At Grants Pass, the North Medford Mavericks collected 27 hits in winning a pair of five-inning American Legion A Area 4 games and Berry Hunt pitched a one-hit shutout in the nightcap.
    In the opener, Tate Cowden sparked the 16-hit attack with a 4-4, three-run performance. Kacey Buchanan added three hits, three RBIs and three runs for North Medford (20-15, 8-4 Area 4) and Dakota Adams provided two hits and three RBIs. Larson Kindreich and Grayson Wolff also had two hits each.
    In Game 2, the Diggers only hit against Hunt came a one-out double in the third inning by Jake Stoffell.
    Adams paced the Mavericks offense with two hits and four RBIs. Preston Johnson and Wolff each had two hits.
