  • Just like biblical times when the tribe of Israel butchered the Canaanite men, children, women and the elderly in ancient Gaza, the present sons of Israel are slaughtering the Palestinian families of Gaza by air with missile-firing drones and fighter jet bombardment, by sea with gunship shelling, by land with artillery and tank fire and finally by foot soldiers. Whole family clans and their homes are snuffed out, children in diapers slaughtered, old people lying in hospital beds blown up.
The founders of Israel know what it is like to live in a ghetto. In their new role as oppressors they understand how to monitor and block all entrances, control the power and water, block sea lanes, and side with Egypt to keep the borders closed, trapping the ghetto residents in an economic squeeze of poverty. They enjoy total control as they go about grabbing more land on the West Bank by building settlements, bulldozing Palestinian homes and swallowing up farmland.
And the United States remains compliant in this pogrom against civilians. And so the Palestinians resist with unguided rockets, facing down the Israel giant with a slingshot. Biblical times in the 21st century. — Ralph Bowman, Central Point
    Let's get real!
Any substance being introduced into our fine country of alcohol and tobacco abuse — costing us billions of dollars — would be a major problem for those alcohol and tobacco companies. In all likelihood, the substance being introduced would take profits away from alcohol and tobacco.
With the bottom line, as always, being money, the fight will prevail. It surely does not take a rocket scientist to figure out, alcohol and tobacco are potentially very deadly in comparison to marijuana. Why people are quibbling about a substance that potentially can help medicinally, whereas alcohol and tobacco virtually have no healthy benefits, if not deadly benefits, is way beyond me! People, get a grip! — Jeff Kassman, Ashland
No pay to the City Council. JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
When predators outnumber prey, the system breaks down. Predators being people taking from the system. Prey being people supporting the system.
Pay will cause more lifetime politicians who seem to forget that they represent the majority. New people seem to be more on fire to do what is best for the majority and America.
Let's forget our own personal wants and save the greatest nation ever. America is in trouble. We the people standing together are the only way to save her.
Vote for what is best for a free nation, not what's best for your personal self. — Billy Rutherford, Eagle Point
