  • Sheriff's deputies are still looking for a missing Shady Cove man who wandered away from his family's campsite on July 10.
Dwain Hodge, 53, is described as 5-foot-9 and about 180 pounds. He experiences irregular mental impairments from a recent stroke, according to a Jackson County Sheriff's Department news release.
The family was camping near the intersection of West Fork Trail Creek Road and Highway 227, the release said.
The active search for Hodge has been called off, but deputies and search-and-rescue workers are following up on all tips and possible sightings, JCSO spokeswoman Andrea Carlson said.
Hodge was last seen wearing a Budweiser shirt and hat and a pair of shorts, the release said.
Anyone with information about Hodge or his location is asked to call the sheriff's office tip line at 541-774-8333.
Hodge reportedly rang the doorbell of a house in the 27000 block of Highway 62 at about 3 a.m. July 13 and asked the resident for a ride to Grants Pass, the release said.
The resident asked Hodge to wait and went back inside, but Hodge left and hasn't been seen since.
Hodge is known to wander along Highway 62 and has been spotted by Shady Cove residents, the release said.
