ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION: Volunteers needed with flexible schedule during office hours, M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Qualifications include patience, good communication and organization skills and ability to email/use Internet. References are requested. Alzheimer’s Association will train right person/s to respond to helpline calls and walk-ins who often are caregivers and/or family of persons with dementia. Callers often need referred to resources such as support groups, respite, behavior and communication information, education programs or to check out materials from our Lending Library. The CRB is a division of the Oregon Judicial Department whose mission is to serve the best interest of children and families by monitoring and helping to improve Oregon’s foster care and juvenile justice systems. One position represents the trucking industry, one represents agriculture and one will represent the public. The terms are three years each. DOGS FOR THE DEAF needs volunteer drivers to pick up and deliver dogs locally and in Portland. Locally, drivers pick dogs up from a foster home in the morning and bring them to the training facility. Drivers are also needed in the afternoon to take the dogs back home. Trips to Portland would involve picking up dogs at the airport or various shelters in the Portland area and bringing them to the training facility in Central Point. HELP NOW! ADVOCACY CENTER is recruiting volunteer advocates. Help Now! needs a volunteer who has IT expertise to assist on an ongoing basis with computer/network issues. The center provides free advocacy services to the disabled, seniors, minorities, and the economically disadvantaged by helping resolve disputes with governmental agencies, businesses or individuals. HOMELESS PREGNANT TEENS: Magdalene Home, a non-denominational Christian-based home providing a safe and caring environment with 24-hour supervision for homeless pregnant and parenting teens, needs dedicated individuals to transport the mothers and babies to and from doctor appointments, court appearances and other appointments. LIFESPAN RESPITE Lifespan Respite, a program of The Arc of Jackson County, hosts two programs for families caring for loved ones that require around-the-clock care. The senior “Social Club” is held from noon to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Barnett Wood Retirement Community in Medford. The “Kids Club” is held from 1 to 5 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday of every month at the Rogue Valley YMCA in Medford. Lifespan Respite need snacks for both programs.
