The Doobie Brothers have sold out another Britt show! The hillside will be packed for the 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, show, just like it was in 2002 and 2003 and 2005. In addition to a lot of local fans, these ‘70s rockers have two Grammy Awards, 27 chart singles, 16 Top 40 hits (including two Number 1 hits), 11 multi-platinum albums, 13 gold albums and that most rare of distinctions, The Diamond Award, for the sale of 10 million units of a single title “Best Of The Doobies Vol. 1.” Promoters report that, in all, they’ve sold more than 50 million records as they explored the musical terrain from the bluesy rock of “Long Train Runnin’ ” to the country-tinged “Black Water” to the gospel/jazz rooted “Takin’ It To The Streets.” Their official Web site,, notes that they will play with the Steve Miller Band later this month in New York and New Jersey, but there’s no word on who will open for them in Jacksonville. The Britt Festivals site promises a special guest to be announced.
