Stirmel's hat trick leads Spartans

Nick Stirmel had a hat trick, including the first goal of the game as the Southern Oregon Spartans jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Totems, Saturday at The RRRink.

Stirmel scored off an assist by Mike Kowicki and Avik Bordak about eight minutes into the game to give the Spartans (8-7) the lead for good, and Avik Bordak and Connor Quinn scored later in the first.

In the second, Joe Bordak and Stirmel, off an Eligah Bordak assist, tacked on two more scores in the first eight minutes to help the Spartans pull away.

Avik Bordak had three assists and a goal for the Spartans, and Joe Bordak had a goal and an assist.

For Seattle (6-10), Petr Novak had a goal and an assist.
