Ashland man faces charges of encouraging sex abuse

Search warrant led to the indictment

A Jackson County grand jury Wednesday indicted an Ashland man on 14 counts of encouraging child sexual abuse and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Police believe Torin E. Eggers, 29, is in the Ashland area, but that "there is no reason to believe Eggers poses an immediate threat to the community," according to a press release from the Ashland Police Department.

Eggers, whose address was unknown, was indicted on seven counts each of first- and second-degree encouraging child sex abuse after evidence was presented to the grand jury by Ashland police and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force, the release said.

A call to Ashland police for more details was not immediately returned late Thursday.

According to the APD release, the indictment stems from the execution of a search warrant on Aug. 30 in the 200 block of North Laurel Street.
