Reba Janell Turnbull (Jan), 81, slipped quietly into peace in Grants Pass, Ore. Wednesday, November 28, 2012.
Born September 16, 1931 in Hodgen, Okla., to Jay B. Bowles and Lela Ollar Bowles. In August 1947, in Reno, Nev., Jan married Glen Turnbull. Jan and Glen lived in various places in Washington and Oregon, before settling in the Rogue Valley in 1966.
She worked in real estate, managing rentals and developing real estate investments with her husband, Glen. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Jan was a member of the Community of Christ Church; past member of the American Legion, Toast Mistress Club, American Cancer Society, Southern Oregon Apartment Owners Association and a 4-H Leader.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Gaile and Steve Lane, of Grant Pass, Ore., LeAnne Turnbull, of Richland, Wash., J. Michael and Judy Turnbull, of Elk Grove, Calif., Philip and Lynn Turnbull, of Grants Pass, and Douglas Turnbull, of Central Point, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Florence Barlow; and her husband, Glen Turnbull.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 2320 Siskiyou Blvd, Medford, Oregon 97504. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Alzheimer's Foundation (www.alzfdn.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
Internment will be at a later date, with her husband, Glen A. Turnbull, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon.
