    • Petrified Forest National Park

    • Petrified Forest National Park in east-central Arizona is a place of beautiful desolation. The area, begun as a monument under President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, achieved national park status in 1962. With its relatively mild winter climate, it is a good travel destination in late winter or early spring.
