I seek routes with long stretches uninterrupted by stop signs or traffic lights. Illumination can help night riders stay alive

Take a drive around the city of Medford on any night and you are likely to see a kamikaze (suicidal) bicyclist, riding without any lighting and dressed in dark clothes.
