Central Point was named by pioneer Isaac Constant, who settled in 1852 near the intersection of two important wagon routes that traversed the Rogue Valley, “Oregon Geographic Names” reports. Magruder Brothers established a store there in 1870, and a post office bearing the Central Point name was established in 1872.
