White City grew out of the World War II Army training camp known as Camp White. A group of lumber mill owners bought a large portion of the camp’s land after the war to establish an industrial park. The old Army camp’s hospital remains and is now known as the Veterans Affairs’ Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinic. The unincorporated township is still an industrial center and the county’s most populous area outside a city. An urban renewal district and a law enforcement district serve the area.
